The fate of the Special Counsel Report?

I was inclined to think that the Trump administration would bury the Special Counsel Report, and to admire Mueller for serializing the report in charging informations and briefs against Trump’s hirelings. But if the Report turns out to be “no crime, but criminal coverup,” then Alan Derhowitz’s advice probably will prevail: don’t bury it, but delay release for preparation of a suitably Trumpian response.

Here’s an anticipatory Executive Summary of the Trumpian response, paraphrasing Randall D. Eliason:

Executing a complex criminal conspiracy with foreign accomplices would require a level of sophistication and ability that was not generally on display in our campaign. The campaign’s documented contacts with Russians were naive, bumbling, reckless, sleazy, and unpatriotic — but not criminal.
