Uninvented

Might it be illuminating to nominate clever and seemingly good inventions which, in retrospect, one might wish un-invented (e.g., because of baneful unintended consequences), together with the reasons for notionally uninventing them?

I nominate the automobile, the progenitor of our concrete and asphalt built environment, of streets like arenas full of dangerous beasts, of parking garages and shopping malls, of necessities of life too far removed to secure by shank’s mare, of “dating” and surreptitious, country-lane formation of the beast with two backs.

Others?
