There’s nothing all that unprecedented about Paul Manafort’s lawyers talking to the President’s personal lawyers during the “cooperation” phase of Manafort’s plea deal. Other organized criminal enterprises do it occasionally, too. (This is a good and entertaining podcast, BTW.)
